Any personal plot, in order for it to be both beautiful and functional, requires constant maintenance. It is not so easy to develop landscape design, plan the location of beds, flower beds, lawns, and even more difficult to implement this plan in practice. It often happens that the beds and paths are washed away by water during heavy precipitation, the grass grows in a completely different place where it was intended, the flowers mix, and the overall picture turns out to be far from what was intended.
To avoid the above problems, to more effectively use the available space, to streamline and structure the personal plot, border tape is used. It appeared relatively recently, but has already become popular in landscape design.
What is border tape
The product is a plastic flexible fence in the form of a tape, the lower part of which is dug vertically into the ground. The thickness of such a border is from 0.5 to 0.65 mm, the height is 150-200 mm, the length of the tape in one roll can be different. A special polymer alloy allows it to withstand temperatures from +50 to -50 degrees, for the same reason, the tape does not fade in the sun and tolerates winter well. Plastic curbs are available in a variety of colors, as well as perforated or smooth. The service life of the curb tapes is at least 10 years. They can, if desired, be quickly dismantled and moved to another place; they can be easily cleaned from adhering soil with an ordinary garden hose.
Ways to use the curb tape
This product is so versatile that any gardener can find tons of uses for it:
- outline the boundaries of lawn grass growth and give the lawn a neat appearance;
- protect the perimeter beds from shedding; equip raised beds, which allows you to get a harvest faster, because in this form the soil warms up faster, the root system of seedlings is formed more powerful. It is convenient to water the plants, while the soil is not washed out, the water does not spread, but remains within the boundaries of the garden bed.
- to form flower beds and flower beds, ridges, alpine hills; they are especially good using ribbons of bright colors and corrugated textures. In addition to flower beds of the usual form, they also create multi-tiered flower beds, very beautiful and original. The contour of the flower bed will remain as it was created throughout the season. The fence also prevents weeds from growing into the flower bed. It winters well in the ground, or it can be removed and a flower garden of different shapes can be made the next year.
- create garden paths; on the one hand, the fence will keep the material from which the paths are made (for example, rubble) within the specified limits, and on the other hand, it will prevent weeds from entering.
- to delimit areas decorated with decorative mulch. This element of landscape design greatly decorates the area around the house. Wood bark, pebbles, processed glass, marble chips, and other materials are used as mulch.
- prevent bear and other garden pests from entering the site.
Thus, curb tape can be useful in any household.
