What materials are needed to insulate a house with siding?
First, we calculate the amount of required material. Here’s what we need:
- Siding panels and trim strips (note that about 10% is spent on fitting).
- Wooden bars with a section of 40×60 mm or 50×50 … 150 mm for guides with a moisture content of not more than 18% (the width of the bars is taken depending on the planned thickness of the insulation). Instead of wooden blocks, it is better to take a galvanized profile.
- Slats 25×50 mm for counter battens.
- Waterproofing foil.
- Mineral wool slabs for wall insulation.
- Dowel-nails for attaching the guides to the walls: 1 dowel-nail per 40 cm of the bar – if the thickness of the insulation is 50 mm. For fastening wider boards, galvanized corners are also needed.
- For fastening siding – nails or screws made of stainless material, with large heads (1 pc. for 300 mm panels).
- Antiseptic for impregnating wooden battens.
